Staff Environmental Scientist (Jessup, MD)

We are performing a large number of due diligence projects, and need help implementing them in Washington, DC region and throughout Maryland. This position can be based out of either our Jessup, MD or Hunt Valley, MD office.
The duties of the Staff Environmental Scientist include but are not limited to, performing:
- Phase I & Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESA’s);
- UST Closures and Assessments;
- Hazardous materials surveys; and
- Other environmental projects as needed.
Preferred experience and skills includes:
- Bachelor’s Degree in environmental or other natural science or engineering degree.
- A minimum of two years of experience in environmental consulting, concentrating on Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, including field investigation and report generation.
- Excellent research, writing, organizational, and language skills required.
- Excellent computer skills including MS Word, Excel and Power Point, and Adobe Acrobat.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
- Coordinates and sets up meetings by gathering dates and times that are convenient for internal and external staff and customers.
- Answers phones and directs client inquiries to the proper staff members.
- Develops formats and types text for general correspondence, forms, tables and graphs, manuals and other lengthy documents using multiple software packages. Determines the appropriate software to use to create charts, tables and presentation materials. Maintains software expertise in Word, Excel, PowerPoint publisher, Access and Adobe.
- Performs proposal searches, downloads specs, and assists in the drafting of proposals.
- Checks, proofs, and edits work for accuracy of names, figures, sentence structure, punctuation, and spelling. Performs "final reading" of large documents, i.e., contract documents, O&M manuals, for consistency in terminology and language. Prompts staff when related documents/sections from "master" template need to be used, included, or revised for completion.
- Attends staff meetings, takes notes and composes minutes of meetings as required. Transcribes dictation which includes statistical, technical, non-technical, and scientific terminology.

- Complete written log of site visit and activities.
- Prepare cured test cylinders and perform compressive strength testing in the laboratory, logging results as indicated.
- Prepare client report of test results.

- Obtain soil samples in the field for laboratory Proctor testing.
- Perform laboratory Proctor compaction tests, logging results as indicated.
- Perform field density compaction tests utilizing the sand cone or nuclear density methods.

Geotechnical Engineer (Jessup, MD)
F&R is seeking a geotechnical engineer to support clients in our Jessup, Maryland operation center.
The candidate will provide engineering expertise in assisting engineering personnel in implementing geotechnical engineering projects, supporting field crews, performing and /or reviewing laboratory tests results and other related engineering activities.

JOB DUTIES
