A Senior Engineer, Nate Schwarz has more than a decade of special inspections and construction materials testing experience in the Baltimore/Washington region and Central Virginia. He is the Construction Services Manager serving our Maryland region, as well as several federal military projects throughout the United States. Nate has managed numerous teams on projects involving the material investigation of existing concrete structures – both destructive and nondestructive testing methods.
Starting his career with F&R in Richmond, Nate managed projects primarily in the transportation sector including the $50 million Airport Connector Road – one of VDOT’s most successful Design-Build PPTA endeavors. He next moved to up to managing the CMT department in the Dulles office; overseeing numerous projects in Northern Virginia and Washington, DC and managing a staff of engineers, project managers and field and laboratory technicians. He has worked on notable sites throughout the Mid-Atlantic including the National Zoological Park, Washington Monument, and the Wright Brothers Memorial.
Nate is an active member of the American Concrete Institute and has published research on alternative cementing materials and concrete sustainability. Nate holds MS and BS degrees in Civil Engineering from Clarkson University and is an Eagle Scout. An appreciator of the “big picture”, Nate is an active supporter of assisting high school students in developing life-long leadership skills.
