Senior Geotechnical Engineer


John Pappas has nearly 40 years of experience in both a field and overview role for geotechnical engineering and construction materials testing of concrete and earthen dams; power plants; industrial, institutional, and private development projects; multistory structures, repair and additions to historic structures; communication towers; retaining walls; and roadways, as well as forensic analyses of failed structures.

His responsibilities include planning and coordinating construction materials testing activities, overseeing drilling and subsurface exploration with subsequent geotechnical analyses, reviewing and evaluating field testing inspections and laboratory data, and preparing and reviewing reports. His experience includes overview and supervisory responsibility for engineering technicians on hundreds of projects that involve monitoring the compliance of construction materials and construction methods with applicable contract documents, ASTM, VUSBC/IBC Chapter 17-Special Inspections, and AASHTO standards. He is experienced with developing and administering detailed construction materials testing programs.
