A Richmond native, Tara Brown has over fifteen years of leadership and managerial experience and more than a decade providing human resources experience to a diverse set of companies. Her main focus remains on the systematic improvement in the function and organization of HR teams to provide tools and resources for effective decision making across the organization. In addition to her professional work, she has also facilitated volunteer teams through leadership roles with professional HR groups. She believes that giving back to the communities in which one works and lives is an important part of growth and does so as she has returned to her hometown.
Tara is truly enjoying exploring the Richmond “that grew up when no one was looking,” sort of like her! Her favorite Richmond activities are time at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, finding new restaurants, and spending time at Maymont Park, which was featured in an article about Tara in SHRM magazine. She also enjoys travelling in the U.S. and abroad and taking and looking at pictures of the people she meets during her adventures.
When asked why she got into human resources, Tara often replies, “I was supposed to be an English teacher, and then HR showed up and stole my heart.”
