Froehling & Robertson, Inc. has been providing services to the United States Department of Defense on dozens of projects at Fort Lee for decades. These projects have drawn upon the experience of
professionals in all of our divisions and have been performed during all phases of site selection and construction or renovation. Recent projects have included:
Advanced Individual Training Barracks Complexes I and II
Complex I consists of a five story building with a maximum 121,042 GSF, and will accommodate 300 soldiers (450‐soldiers in the event of a surge) adjacent to a first‐floor Company Operations area. F&R provided materials testing of soils, concrete, masonry, structural steel, and SRFM during construction. Complex II was under renovation and F&R’s industrial hygiene team provided hazardous materials surveys of the structures on site prior to demolition activities.
Air Force/Navy Dormitory
The new dormitory was a five-story, 169,000sf building de-signed to house a total of 600 military personnel. F&R provided the testing services required, which included testing and inspection for earthwork, foundations, reinforcing steel, concrete, masonry, structural steel and asphalt.
Central Campus Phase II
This project consisted of four buildings, founded on shallow reinforced concrete spread footings and supporting structural steel frames. Using certified technicians and AWS certified welding inspectors, F&R performed testing and inspection on earthwork, foundations, reinforced concrete, structural steel, masonry, and asphalt.
