This project involved the installation three different “guardrail/handrail systems.” Three different types and locations of guardrails were installed during this project:
- Around the skylights that were anchored into the concrete roof;
- A rigid rail that was anchored through the marble coping into concrete on the upper roof edge; and
- Individual anchor points on 3 sides of the building.
Froehling & Robertson, Inc. was brought on board to provide a suite of services that included pull testing of all installed anchors using a hydraulic jack system, load frame, and calibrated load.
The ultimate applied load to the anchors was roughly 5,000 pounds per anchor (tension) with the load held for approximately 3 minutes per test.
