Lake Castleberry Dam Rehabilitation

As part of the ongoing development of the Lake Castelberry housing development, Froehling & Robertson, Inc. was brought on board to assist in the rehabilitation of the dam which supported the lake that gave the housing development its name.

Major inspection and testing activities associated with the improvements to the existing dam involved cleaning-out and backfilling of the two existing downstream drainage channels, subgrade evaluations/repairs in the downstream toe areas and fill placement in these areas, construction of an internal toe drainage system and downstream embankment construction.

F&R also provided monitoring of earthwork construction during flattening of the upstream slope and widening of the downstream slope, as well as monitoring of the installation of the low level control structure through the embankment and the principal (concrete drop spillway) and emergency spillways constructed on the southern and northern abutments.
