Growing up in the small Southeastern Connecticut town of Ledyard, near the Rhode Island border, Patrick’s early fascination with heavy construction equipment paved the way for a distinguished career in Civil Engineering. He holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Florida, a Master’s in Civil Engineering from Pennsylvania State University, and a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering from the University of Connecticut.

With 25 years of combined experience spanning the energy sector, the A/E/C industry, and academia, Patrick brings a wealth of knowledge to F&R. His diverse background encompasses geotechnical engineering, facilities management, and construction materials testing. Memorable career highlights include his pivotal roles in the team that constructed Pier 400 in Los Angeles Harbor and the team that managed the excavation of ash ponds at Riverbend Steam Station – both testaments to his collaborative spirit and commitment to successful project delivery.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Patrick cherishes traveling the globe with his wife, embracing new cultures, cuisines, and experiences. Family plays a significant role in Patrick’s life, and he credits his father as a profound influence, instilling in him the importance of education and treating others with kindness – a philosophy he carries into his interactions every day.

Patrick’s leadership style is rooted in empowerment and support. He believes in equipping professionals with clear goals and the necessary resources to excel, while always remaining available to offer guidance and ensure the team stays focused on the overarching objectives.

A surprising tidbit about Patrick? He once pursued his passion for basketball at the collegiate level, a brief but insightful experience that he says taught him the difference between enthusiasm and professional skill. Furthermore, Patrick holds a unique perspective on a significant historical event, having witnessed the events of 9/11 firsthand while working on the New York City waterfront and actively participating in the boatlift rescue efforts – a moment of profound personal pride. An avid explorer, Patrick has also achieved the remarkable feat of visiting all fifty states, with South Dakota unexpectedly ranking high on his list of fascinating destinations.
