We’re Stronger Together

A third-generation minority-owned firm, F&R is a Virginia-certified SWaM (Minority-Owned) Business and a North Carolina Historically Underutilized Business (HUB). For several decades, F&R was a woman-owned company under the direction of Mrs. Mimi Proctor, who nurtured what is now a thriving consulting engineering firm. Our legacy continues with Samuel Proctor, a Native American of Assiniboine descent, who leads the firm as CEO and Chairman of the Board.

As an MBE business, we understand the importance of providing other firms with opportunities to thrive. While we can contribute to minority directives for projects and contracts, we also seek opportunities to support our fellow WBE/MBE/DBE-certified industry peers when possible.

Contact us to explore potential partnership opportunities that can help your team meet MBE goals on your project.

Our Heritage

The Froehling & Robertson story began in the lab nearly a century-and-a-half ago. Dr. Henry Froehling, M.D., established the company as a chemical laboratory and coal mine consulting firm in Richmond, VA, in 1881. He was joined by Dr. James Robertson in 1904, at which time our firm name was adopted. The firm was incorporated in Virginia on October 11, 1924.

Today, F&R is the nation’s oldest continually operating independent testing/engineering firm. We have transitioned from our humble roots as a single chemical laboratory to a technologically advanced multi-discipline firm with 11 Mid-Atlantic locations.
