F&R is thrilled to announce a key addition to our leadership team with Alvin Rivera-Bermudez joining us as our new Safety Manager in the Corporate Office in Richmond, VA!
Alvin brings more than 15 years of workplace safety expertise to his new role. Prior to F&R, he was a Safety Specialist at a prominent AEC firm, where he served as the primary compliance authority for regulatory mandates, including those from OSHA and the EPA. He is an expert in proactively identifying and mitigating potential hazards, conducting thorough incident investigations, and designing safety training curricula, including new-hire onboarding and detailed emergency response protocols.
Alvin first learned safety and leadership during his 25-year career in the United States Army, where he retired as a Sergeant First Class. During his time in the military, he served as a Safety Officer for various units. He oversaw safety for construction projects with the Army Corps of Engineers, often earning superior OSHA inspection ratings.
“Alvin has worked across complex, high-risk environments and is known for his practical, boots-on-the-ground approach to safety,” said Patricia Preston, PHR, SHRM-CP, CPSP, F&R Director of Human Resources and Safety. “He is passionate about building a strong safety culture here at F&R, supporting field teams, and helping employees go home safe every day. I am so excited to have Alvin on board and look forward to the expertise he brings to our safety program.”
Alvin holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety and is currently working on his Master’s Degree in the same field from Columbia Southern University. Additionally, he holds several key certifications, including OSHA 10/30, CPR, First Aid, and Hazardous Waste Management.
