F&R is pleased to welcome Anwar Maharmeh, P.E., as Branch Manager of our Fredericksburg, VA, office. Anwar brings more than 29 years of experience in civil engineering, with a strong background in transportation design, land development, and construction management. His public-sector roles include serving with VDOT (2001–2015) and Prince William County (2020–2025). In the private sector, Anwar has worked with several engineering firms, providing geotechnical consulting, construction materials testing, and field engineering support. His broad expertise makes him a valuable addition to the F&R team.
Anwar holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Environmental and Geotechnical Engineering from the University of Arizona. He has also completed continuing education classes in Civil Engineering with a focus on Transportation at the University of Virginia, including coursework in roadway design, traffic engineering, and project management. Anwar is a licensed Professional Engineer in Virginia, Maryland, and Georgia.
As the new Branch Manager, Anwar will be the central figure in the Fredericksburg office, overseeing all strategic and logistical aspects to steer the office towards achieving its financial and operational goals. With his background as a professional engineer, he will leverage his technical expertise to guide project execution, ensure adherence to engineering standards, and optimize resource allocation for complex projects.
