We are thrilled to announce that Jessica “Jesse” Behmke, P.G., a standout member of our team in F&R’s Richmond office, has been recognized with the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) Richmond, VA, Chapter #141 Member of the Year Award. Chapter members select this award to honor a member who goes above and beyond for the chapter and embodies the mission of NAWIC.

Additionally, Jesse was awarded the prestigious regional honor of NAWIC South Atlantic Region Future Leader of the Year. This accolade is selected by a panel of judges from the industry outside our region. It highlights Jesse’s extraordinary efforts in fostering opportunities and empowering women and girls within the construction sector.

These honors demonstrate Jesse’s status as a transformative leader since joining NAWIC, with an influence that extends far beyond her contributions at F&R, making a significant mark on the broader construction community. Within F&R, Jesse has led highly effective Women in Construction (WIC) Week and membership initiatives. Through these events, especially her practical soil testing demonstrations, she has equipped women with practical skills and the confidence to explore new areas and expand their understanding of the industry.

Jesse’s leadership also shines through her active participation in NAWIC’s WIC Week and Membership Committees, where she consistently introduces fresh perspectives to boost engagement, nurture mentorships, and fortify professional networks. As Chair of the Camp NAWIC Committee, Jesse has been pivotal in providing young girls with direct construction experience and professional development, igniting the spark for the next generation of female leaders in the industry.

“We are incredibly proud of Jesse’s contributions to NAWIC, both locally and at the regional level. Her unwavering commitment to uplifting and educating women in construction is truly inspiring,” said Sam Proctor, F&R Owner and Chief Executive Officer. “She is an exceptional role model, consistently breaking down barriers and laying the groundwork for future generations, continuing a remarkable 90-year legacy of women in leadership at F&R that includes my grandmother, mother, sister, and wife. With Jesse’s growing leadership role at NAWIC, I feel certain that the metro Richmond chapter will gain prominence, benefiting all in the Commonwealth’s build community.”

Please join us in celebrating Jesse’s accomplishments and her ongoing dedication to building a more diverse and equitable future for women in the construction industry. Congratulations, Jesse!
