Parham Safarian, P.E., returned to F&R as our new Dulles Branch Manager in 2024. This appointment marked a significant homecoming for Parham, as the Dulles office is where his distinguished engineering career began in 2018.
Parham rejoined us after leading the geotechnical department at another prominent engineering consulting firm in the region, bringing a wealth of both technical expertise and proven management capabilities to our Dulles team. His deep understanding of the industry and his leadership acumen is invaluable as this crucial branch sees continued growth and success.
Parham’s passion for engineering is rooted in the tangible impact of the profession – the ability to build and create something where nothing previously existed. He finds particular satisfaction in the collaborative effort behind new developments, often unseen by the public eye. A memorable highlight of his career includes witnessing the completion of the National Native American Veterans Memorial.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Parham enjoys traveling, exploring diverse culinary experiences, and pursuing his passion for flying as a private pilot and owner of a small airplane. His family background is equally fascinating: his father is a commercial ship captain, and his wife is fluent in five languages. Adding to his impressive repertoire, Parham is also a coffee enthusiast with a knack for latte art and can solve a Rubik’s Cube in under a minute!
Parham’s leadership philosophy centers on fostering growth through accountability and opportunity. He believes in empowering staff by providing them with increasing responsibilities, thereby nurturing their leadership potential. His approach prioritizes trust and accountability over micromanagement, creating an environment where team members are motivated by a desire to excel.
Parham holds a Master of Science in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Geotechnical Engineering from Southern Illinois University, and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Sharif University in Iran. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Maryland, Washington D.C., Virginia, Texas, and West Virginia.
