For more than a decade, Arlington County has strived to develop and expand Long Bridge Park. F&R currently holds an on-call term contract with the County for materials testing and inspections services so when the time finally came and construction started, F&R was on site doing what we do best. That was several years ago and the project is slated for completion in Summer 2020.

The complex will be Arlington County’s first free-standing aquatics center as well as its first design-build project. This phase of the project includes 10.5 acres of park development and the Aquatics & Fitness Center construction. The Aquatic Center includes a competition pool (50 meters), a leisure pool, and spectator seating. The Fitness Center will include weights and cardio, a group fitness room, community meeting rooms, party/meeting rooms, administrative areas, safety offices, storage, and mechanical rooms. The site
development includes an extension of the Esplanade, integrated public art, community gathering spaces, stormwater management facilities, bicycle and pedestrian pathways, vehicle access, drop off and parking areas, and a bus drop off/pick up area.

F&R’s engineering professionals have conducted testing and inspections of waterproofing, soils, foundations, cast-in-place concrete, structural steel, masonry, asphaltic pavements and spray applied fireproofing.
