F&R provided construction materials testing and special inspections during construction of the Bronco Pride Residential Hall at Fayetteville State University. Designed to house 336 residents in single- and double-occupancy units, this four-story 87,930-square-foot co-ed residence hall was built on shallow foundations with steel-framing and a slab-on-grade floor. The project also included site improvements, such as asphalt pavements, installation of an underground detention system, and associated utilities.
F&R’s scope of work included foundation bearing evaluations, concrete compressive strength testing, masonry construction observations, grout and mortar sampling, steel weld inspections, and field density testing for fill placement and pavement subgrades. F&R worked closely with the Fleming and Associates (F&A) team, who provided this project’s steel and reinforcing steel inspections.
Daily electronic reports documented F&R’s testing program and noted any discrepancies requiring design team input. Laboratory reports were issued upon the completion of each test. The construction materials testing and special inspections documented compliance with the project specifications, supporting the successful construction of this residence hall.
