Since the early 2000’s, F&R has been providing Geotechnical Engineering and Construction Materials Testing Services for Stafford County and Stafford County Public Schools, having been awarded multiple term contracts and their subsequent rebids/renewals. Throughout our history of collaborating with SCPS, F&R has completed work on the majority of facilities that are affiliated with the school system.
Just a few of the projects on which we have been proud to contribute our core services include:
Stafford High School New Facility Construction
This $60 million project consisted of the construction of a new three story, 288,000 sf high school with bus loop, a 162-space west parking lot, two site retaining walls, site utilities (storm sewer, sanitary sewer, water), a 555 space north parking lot, lighted tennis courts, multi-purpose fields, and tennis court retaining wall. F&R provided materials testing and special inspections of earthwork, cast-in-place concrete, structural steel and welding, masonry asphaltic pavements and aggregate base during construction phases.
Anne E. Moncure Elementary School Reconstruction
Recently re-opened, Moncure ES underwent a $54.6 million bottom to top rebuild of the current school which included not only the classroom, administrative, and athletic facilities, but also a student interactive garden and outdoor learning facility and auxiliary playgrounds, bus loops, and parking areas.
F&R conducted the initial subsurface exploration and laboratory testing program to determine the suitability of the proposed site for the needed construction. F&R’s geotechnical engineers prepared foundation, site preparation, groundwater control and other geotechnical recommendations.
Once construction was underway, our engineers and technicians conducted materials testing and special inspections of soils, cast-in-place concrete, masonry, structural steel as well as floor flatness testing.
Mountain View High School Additions and Renovations
Mountain View High School underwent a series of additions and renovations to the existing school facility intended to increase school capacity by 200 students and provide high-quality educational space for specific programs. This project introduced new classroom, laboratory, orchestra and wellness spaces as well as a renovated security vestibule. F&R provided construction materials testing and special inspections of earthwork, cast-in-place concrete, structural steel, and masonry.
