Born and raised in Washington D.C., Terra grew up in the construction trade. Her father was sheet metal fabricator and worked on many buildings in the capital region. With a host of her dad’s job site friends over on the weekends renovating Terra’s family’s big old house, Terra learned everything she knows about construction from this extended family of tradesmen. She got introduced to slope stabilization, masonry, MEP…all of it.
Terra took that respect for and knowledge of the industry, fostered by family and friends, and put it to good use in the construction world, first on a college campus, coordinating construction projects. She served on the selection committees and interviewed architects and contractors for campus projects. It was just a natural evolution to hop to the other side and go to work for construction companies and then engineering firms doing business development and marketing. All in all Terra has a veritable TON of experience in the industry, approaching it from every angle.
With a love of the A/E/C world but mostly the people in it, Terra never thought of herself as a people person, preferring to stay on the marketing side of things, but once lured into business development by a few astute firm executives who saw her true calling, she still has client contacts that she made nearly 30 years ago. Which is what business and client development is all about, right?
