Dan Schaefer, P.E., Vice President of Operations, has been appointed President of the Geoprofessional Business Association (GBA) Board of Directors. Formed in 1969, the GBA is a professional association serving geotechnical, environmental, and other geoprofessionals in risk management advocacy, resource development, professional development, and peer review.
Dan’s appointment is the culmination of decades of experience and leadership in geotechnical engineering. He has more than 35 years of experience specializing in geotechnical engineering, construction inspection and materials testing, and a wide variety of environmental consulting services. His experience encompasses various site development, building, and transportation projects, with an emphasis on foundation, retaining wall, pavement, and slope design.
Dan received his B.S. in Civil Engineering from New England College and moved to Raleigh, NC, in 1990 to join F&R. During his early years at F&R, he completed an M.S. in Civil Engineering at North Carolina State University. In 2001, Dan began his F&R leadership role as the Branch Manager of F&R’s Raleigh office. Now, as Vice President of Operations, Dan oversees F&R offices in North Carolina and Chesapeake, VA, as well as companywide initiatives, such as the Senior Program and other efforts focused on improving business practices.
“Dan’s appointment as President of the GBA Board of Directors is well deserved and reflects his leadership and commitment to our industry,” said Gary Bruce, P.E., F&R President & COO. “Over his 35 years with F&R, he has worked his way up to Vice President of Operations, delivering results and leading one of our most successful branches for decades. His 30 years of involvement with GBA speak volumes about his commitment to the profession. Dan is dedicated, loyal, and hardworking, and I’m confident he will serve GBA well in this role. Congratulations, Dan!”
