As part of a term contract with Anne Arundel County Schools initiated over a decade ago for construction engineering services in support new school construction and renovation and addition projects, F&R provided materials testing and special inspections during the construction of the new two story, 90,000 sf Jessup Elementary School.

The site required up to 30 feet of fill in places to bring the building pad to finished grade. The structure is reinforced concrete masonry with structural steel framing and decking and founded on shallow concrete
foundations. Exterior improvements include a new parking lot and bus loop. The site also includes several stormwater management features including bio-retention ponds and sand filtration systems.

Prior to construction activities, F&R’s engineers, technicians and inspectors performed a precondition survey to document various items of focus. We are presently conducting testing and monitoring of soils and earthwork operations, foundations, concrete formwork, cast-in-place concrete, reinforcing steel, structural steel, light gauge metal framing, aggregate base, asphaltic pavements, and masonry. Concurrent to these activities, F&R’s geostructural personnel also conducted vibration and settlement monitoring.
